This book is an amazing starting point to a talk we all need to have with their kids. What are your dreams? What do you love to do? You have your very own story, and it's like no one else's, and most of all - God has a great, big, wonderful plan for your life! A wonderful story of encouragement, love, and dreaming your dreams BIG.
My 6 year old daughter had the opportunity to meet Renata Bowers at a library engagement and instantly she fell in love with the Freida B story and now all 4 of the books in the series. For parents the books have a delightful rhythm and rhyme and the stories and beautifully crafted to evoke dreams, imagination, and wonder I the young ones!
I know this book was written for children , but , I loved it , and took the message very much to heart . Anyone with a little girl should be buying this now, for her Easter basket ,birthday , Christmas,etc. One of my favorite gifts to give when they ask for books at baby showers My favorite book for my granddaughters , we've read our Frieda B books over and over , they never make it to the bookshelf , because we always keep it in reach to read , over and over .
This is a fun book with engaging pictures, a positive message, and a rhyme and rhythm sequence that doesn't make me want to pull my hair out (unlike many rhyming children's books). It is all about dreaming big dreams and using imagination. It is most appropriate for the age 2-6 set.
This is a wonderful story, accompanied by delightful illustrations. I use this as a pre-k teacher, as a reminder about the gift of imagination, and how we must not lose sight of our dreams. Renata Bowers has not only keyed into one of the most important elements that is being lost in education, but also one that as adults we must be reminded of frequently. Dreams, creativity, and imagination are just as important as stringent academics. In fact it is proven over and over again that children who are given large blocks of unstructured play have a greater degree of success throughout that educational careers.
The followup to this book, Frieda B Meets the Man in the Moon, is also an amazing book as well!
My 5 year old and I both love to read the Frieda B. books, and this one is the original. Having recently written a children's book of my own I'm now even further in awe of how well the author can craft a rhyming story which *seems* so natural and effortless as you read it (I'm sure it actually took a ton of work). My son just loves the last part when Frieda B sort of passes the baton to the reader to explore the powers of their own imagination. An excellent read!
This is a delightful book! The illustrations are terrific, and Mrs. Bowers has created a charming character in Frieda. Frieda has a wonderful imagination, and she encourages readers to dream big dreams, even when it looks impossible. I've used this book in teaching several different groups, from early elementary up to college age students. It was universally well received, and the students commented on how thought provoking it was. I can't wait to see more Frieda books in the future!
